Captain Darrell Richey is a 16 year veteran for the Indiana Department of Corrections. Since July 2007, he has been assigned to division of Staff Development Emergency Operations. He is an instructor for In-Service Training for the IDOC and instructs/certifies all IDOC negotiators. The two primary teams he oversees is the IDOC SITCON (Negotiators) as well as the Critical Incident Stress Management Team. Captain Richey began his career in 1993 as a correctional officer at the Reception Diagnostic Center, and then transferred to the Correctional Industrial Facility in 1994. During his tenure at Correctional Industrial Facility he promoted up through the ranks to the rank of Captain in 2000. He was also sworn in as one of the IDOC Correctional Police Officers on February 5, 2010, from the first inaugural class. He has received Hostage Crisis Negotiation training from the FBI, Crisis Intervention Training from IMPD, as well as International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF). He has been a board member on IAHCN for almost 2 years and is assigned as one of IDOC Representatives.
