AMENDMENT - ARTICLE 6 - ELECTION PROCEDURES

On or before August 1 of each year, the President shall with the approval of the Board of Directors, appoint an election committee consisting of a Vice President as chairman, and at least two other non-Board members. The election committee shall develop a slate of candidates for nomination to the Board of Directors of the corporation and submit their recommendations to the President. The nominations shall be sent to the Board of Directors at least fourteen days prior to the annual fall meeting/conference when election of the Board of Directors is held.

Unless otherwise provided in these Bylaws, only those active members who are members of a hostage-crisis negotiation team or unit of a law enforcement or correctional agency at the time they are nominated are eligible to run for office.

Elections shall be held as part of the annual meeting/conference each year. The chairman of the election committee shall read the recommendations of the election committee into nomination, and any other nominations provided for hereafter, and oversee the election.

Other nominations may be made by a member submitting the name(s) of the person(s) nominated to the secretary at least seven days prior to such meeting. Other nominations may be made from the floor. All persons nominated must agree to serve if elected All persons elected shall assume office on January 1 following such election and shall serve through December 31.
